SCRIPTURE: You have turned my mourning into joyful dancing. You have taken away my clothes of mourning and clothed me with joy, that I might sing praises to you and not be silent. Psalm 30:11-12
THOUGHT: Silence is violence. I heard that saying while I was in recovery from childhood abuse. The point was that some people use terrible words that hurt others; some people say nothing at all and that can do harm too.
Psalm 30 teaches us that God doesn’t want the silent treatment. He specifically leads us out of various pits – mental, spiritual, physical – so we have something to sing about. He gives us impossible mountains to climb so we’ll have stories to tell about how he delivers.
It’s tempting to stay silent about what God has done for you, but this is your encouragement to live out loud. Put away the clothes of mourning and do a little dance of joy. It will do your heart good – and the heart of the Father too.

PRAYER: Oh God, we remember. You’ve turned mourning into dancing before and you’ll do it again. Take away clothes of mourning and clothe us instead with joy — we will sing your praises and not be silent.
