SCRIPTURE: Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments. Deuteronomy 7:9 NIV

THOUGHT: It’s pretty easy to remake God in our image, rather than the other way around. Afterall, this life is all we know. Children grow up not trusting God because maybe their parents or others were untrustworthy, or maybe they were bullied, or some crisis hit them or their family and things came undone. I’ve heard stories of all of the above, and you probably have too. In my own home, I felt unsafe and unprotected and that became part of my faith journey. I was taught about God, but I didn’t trust God.
It took years and a lot of stumbling and falling before I stopped remaking God after the image of other humans. How freeing it was to begin to see him for who he was, take small steps toward deeper relationship with him, and find the rewards of faith. Scripture says God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him, and you could say I’ve become a true believer.
Love of another kind

Some peace inside
‘Cause it’s hard to find out there, and
When the day is done
These are battles won
With a love of another kind.
Love of another kind.
PRAYER: Father in heaven, thank you that you are a different kind of Father, with a kind of love that defies earthly definition. Teach us to love like you and thank you for the rewards of faith.
