SCRIPTURE: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. Psalm 19:1-4 NIV

THOUGHT: Nowhere in Scripture is it more clear that nature has a God-given voice. The psalmist says the heavens and skies “pour forth speech” in the day and “reveal knowledge” by night. I’ve sometimes heard music spoken of as the universal language, but maybe creation should take that title as, without a word, it is speaking about the Creator no matter what part of the globe we may be on.
I’ve always loved the beautiful landscapes of our world, often drawing inspiration for writing from them. It does all speak to me – and I hope you know the truth of that too. As I began to get a proper perspective on just how big God is, learning to listen to how nature speaks of God has been key. I love nature, I just love nature’s God more.
The sky is calling and it pours forth speech
The earth it answers with songs that reach the stars
And the ocean dances, and the rivers flow
From the throne of the One who made it so.Let us declare our maker’s praise
Let us declare our maker’s praise
The earth lifts a shout, even rocks cry out
Let us declare our maker’s praiseAll the world is listening for a song to rise
From the heart of Adam’s race
Joining with the chorus that fills the skies
Repeating what the earth already knows…Let us declare our maker’s praise

PRAYER: Creator God, thank you for speaking a universal language through the beauty, majesty, grandeur, power, and order all around us, every day and every night. Help us repeat what the earth already knows.
