SCRIPTURE The Spirit and the Bride say, “Come.” And let the one who hears say, “Come.” And let the one who is thirsty come; let the one who desires take the water of life without price. Revelation 22:17

Forming Spirituality through the Christian Year
THOUGHT As we ponder death and resurrection on this post-Easter journey, a peek into Revelation seems appropriate, for it is where God’s narrative finds some conclusion. We can’t really call it an ending because the story goes on – perhaps Revelation is better described as an invitation. Amidst warnings of wars and rumors, fantastical beasts and swords dipped in blood, we find echoes of Eden and promises of all things new. Beyond sin and its ravages, we come to a river of life flowing out from the throne of God and of the Lamb, lined with trees whose leaves are for the healing of the nations.
The invitation shimmers. Come and see what beauty awaits, what glories you’ve never dreamed of. Venture toward the Alpha and Omega, the Spirit, and the Bride. Drink living water and eat from the tree of life. Live forever in a place where there are no tears, no sorrow, meaningful work, non-stop worship, and beauty everywhere you look.
These are the realities that kept Jesus going; the joy set before him – so incredibly big and perfect and amazing that he could endure the cross and even despise the shame of such a death (Heb. 12:2). He knew the incredible good that was ahead, and invites us along to taste and see too!
Are you thirsty for the water of life?
