SCRIPTURE: She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel (which means ‘God is with us’). Isaiah 7:14 NLT
THOUGHT: The story of God with us is woven into the DNA of Scripture. From Genesis, where God desired to walk with humans in the garden, to this promise in Isaiah 7:14 (and repeated in Matthew 1:23) where we learn that a baby will be named “God is with us,” to the end of Revelation (21:3), where we hear “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.” Between the two, “I will be with you” is promised 14 times.
It’s just a little word, but it makes all the difference, doesn’t it? Let’s call it grace by association.
PRAYER: Oh God, thank you for your desire to walk with us, and the knowledge that your Holy Spirit dwells in us. What a privilege. Rather than guilt by association, we get grace by association.
