Presence.

SCRIPTURE:  For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.” Isaiah 41:13 ESV

THOUGHT: A friend started a new job this week. It’s in a field she has been out of for years but such a place of impact, and talk about God opening doors to her! Still, she is understandably nervous and on the first morning of work, there is a lot at stake. God met her with this verse from Isaiah at the start of her day. As she shared it with me, I envisioned her as a small child on the first day of school – as if going to kindergarten with God holding her hand, promising to be her help. And the more I think about it, the more I believe it’s exactly true: she is small but God is so big. A promise of his presence and his hand were the comfort she needed that morning.

I love it when things like this happen, and I hope they happen often for you too. When God moves, makes his compassionate love known, or you see his hand in some circumstance that goes beyond what you have even asked or imagined. It’s so good to live in the agape of God – may we work hard to “comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height” of that love (Eph. 3:18)
