SCRIPTURE: I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. Ephesians 3:16-17 NLT
THOUGHT: My thought this morning is about the amazing Triune God. In two short verses we get a picture of how each member of the Godhead works in our lives.
First, we are empowered with inner strength by the Spirit. That inner strength helps us trust Christ and thus give him more room in our lives to work. That growth, started by the Spirit and nurtured by our lives in Christ grows some serious roots – they are strong roots that keep us from tipping or falling in strong winds and shakings around us. And these roots aren’t anchored in brick or concrete or sod. The roots that keep us strong grow down into God’s love.
We are literally surrounded, enclosed behind and before and within by the Triune God. And his resources are glorious and unlimited.
PRAYER: Oh God, thank you for sharing your glorious, unlimited resources with us. For empowering us with inner strength, living in us, and allowing our roots to grow deeply into the most secure foundation ever known: your own love.
