Blessing

SCRIPTURE:  The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms. Deuteronomy 33:27 AMP

THOUGHT: Just before Moses died, he blessed the people as he assigned land to the various tribes in the country God had given them – a land Moses himself was not destined to go into. These words were part of the final three verses we have recorded by the great leader, a blessing despite all the unfaithfulness and hardheartedness and fear of a people just 70 years out of slavery. A blessing despite all the hard times and troubles. Just think for a moment of all the stories recorded in Scripture of those years, and of Moses’ frustration (and God’s too). They both wanted to give up, but ironically, each played a part in saving God’s dream for a people who would represent him to the world.

Moses’ final words were words of reminding and blessing: The eternal God is your refuge and dwelling place, And underneath are the everlasting arms.

Isn’t it good to know that despite whatever you and I have lived, whatever wrong turns, missteps, and trials of life, there is eternal refuge, an eternal dwelling place, and everlasting arms? There is still a blessing for the people who love God, seek forgiveness, get up, dust themselves off, and keep moving toward the promised land.

PRAYER: Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. (a prayer of Moses, Psalm 90:1 NIV). Help us live into the blessings of your eternal perspective whatever comes our way today.
