SCRIPTURE: The Lord is righteous within her; He will do no injustice. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He does not fail. But the unjust person knows no shame. Zephaniah 3:5 AMP
THOUGHT: Zephaniah 3 is about judgment and disappointment and remnants and mercy. And in the midst of all that lies this little verse about God and God’s unchanging character. Everything he does is just, and every morning he brings his justice to light. That’s a big thought. His justice is all around us, every morning. And Lamentations 3:23 tells us his mercies are also new every morning.
So, if you’re looking around and you see confusion, injustice, no shame, barbaric people, and intense hatred, you need to be looking for the face of evil – for God’s (and our) most ancient enemy – not blaming God.
He hasn’t changed suddenly. He won’t fail; his will won’t fail; his purposes in this world won’t fail; his character won’t fail.
To my heart this morning, that’s gospel.
PRAYER: Oh God, you are righteous within your temple – and that’s a place we get to carry around with us. You will do no injustice. You will not fail. Work out what you’ve so graciously put inside us to the world around us. Hear our cries for deliverance from evil.
