Answer to my prayer already came last week, I just didn’t know it.

SCRIPTURE:  He changes times and seasons; he removes kings and sets up kings; he gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding. Daniel 2:21 ESV

THOUGHT: I had a God moment as I sat on the sofa Saturday evening catching up on news. We’d been gone a week to celebrate our marriage and tried to stay away from media. One big story I read Saturday was, partially at least, the answer to a prayer I had groaned out again that morning: Oh God, I prayed, give us leaders who follow you! Humorously enough, spiritually speaking, God had answered already last Thursday. Here’s what newly elected Speaker Mike Johnson said to the House of Representatives in his first address: “I want to tell all my colleagues here what I told the Republicans in that room last night: I don’t believe there are any coincidences in a matter like this. I believe that scripture, the Bible, is very clear that God is the one that raises up those in authority. He raised up each of you. All of us. And I believe that God has allowed and ordained each and every one of us to be here at this specific moment…each one of us has a huge responsibility today to use the gifts God has given us to serve the extraordinary people of this great nation, and they deserve it.”

He was alluding to our Scripture today from Daniel 2:21. And so, Speaker Johnson, thank you. Thank you for loving God, following God steadfastly throughout your career as a constitutional attorney, devoted to family, faith, freedom, and life. May the God who gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding bless and inform your every move. We need you. You are an answer to prayer. And may the God who changes times and seasons, continue to remove kings and set up kings to accomplish his will.

PRAYER: Oh God, thank you for answers that have come, sometimes before we’ve gotten our deepest longings out of our hearts and into your ears. As the Psalmist said: Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, you know it altogether (Ps 139:4 ESV). Please keep bringing Godly leaders to power in this nation.
