Wish for a New Year

SCRIPTURE:  The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV

THOUGHT:  Just a short thought for today as I wrap up the devotionals for 2023. I hope and pray you’ve been blessed, challenged, and even gotten a spiritual meal here this year. And of course I hope you’ll return for more in 2024. Taste and see that the Lord is good – that’s good recipe any day.

The thought is just this: we’re about to turn the calendar to a new year. It’s full of uncertainty – but full of hope too. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning.

God’s faithfulness is intimately connected to our hope says the writer of Lamentations, and because the one is unbroken the other can be too. My wish for you is that the truth of God’s mercy and faithfulness burns brightly in your hearts in a special way this year, giving you every reason to hope.

PRAYER: Thank you for new mercy each morning, dear Father. And thank you that your steadfast love never ceases. We throw in our lot with you; you are our portion and therefore we will hope in you.
