Echoes

SCRIPTURE:  I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. Ephesians 3:16-17 NIV

THOUGHT: Imagine a cup of coffee with a friend. You are facing some challenges and really need the connection that comes from true friendship. Unhurried. Uninterrupted. You long for someone who listens for your heart when your words may stumble around. You want someone to reassure you rather than making you even more anxious about what you’re facing. You need some Godly wisdom from someone who’s been there. At the end of your time together, your friend leans in and blesses you with a few powerful words, “God is so gloriously rich. I pray that he reaches into that storehouse, pulls out some power just for you, and puts it right into your deepest insides through his Spirit. I pray you’ll feel that strengthening powerfully, viscerally – that’s Jesus living inside you.”

That’s what pastor Paul said to his friends, the Ephesians, and it echoes on into my ears and heart today. May we be the friend who speaks Jesus and may we be the friend who needs Jesus spoken and receives a gift from the amazing storehouse of God’s riches.

PRAYER: Oh Triune God, Father who calls on Spirit to strengthen us with Christ in our hearts, how we need a gift from your storehouse of riches to echo from eternity to us today.
