SCRIPTURE: Surely your goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will live in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23:6 NLT
THOUGHT: Psalm 23 is not a loud psalm. It’s not about cymbals and stringed instruments and joyful noises – but it is joyful anyway. A quiet confidence runs through every word of its six verses, concluding with David-the-song-writer’s certainty. Surely. I am confident. I am certain. I am convicted and convinced. There is no doubt that the great God of the universe is surrounding me; ahead of me choosing pasture, beside me as I take a nice long drink, leading me through dark valleys and feeding me right in front of enemies, and finally, pursuing me with goodness and unfailing love that extends right into eternity.
Surely we don’t serve a passive, disinterested God.
PRAYER: Oh God, thank you for shepherding us. That through every circumstance in life, we can continue on with quiet confidence that you are pursuing us with goodness and unfailing love.
