SCRIPTURE: Now there are also many other things that Jesus did. Were every one of them to be written, I suppose that the world itself could not contain the books that would be written. John 21:25 ESV
THOUGHT: Don’t you just love it when somebody breaks down what they’re saying to just a simple conclusion? Well, this is the conclusion of John as he finishes his chronicling of the birth, life, death, and resurrection of Jesus: the world itself could not contain the books that would be written if everything he did were to be written down.
It’s a big conclusion, yet still it’s simple. And I think it stands as a reminder that we don’t know everything that went on between Jesus and the world he came to redeem.
That serves to make us hungry for more, and it serves to keep us humble, and there’s surely nothing wrong with that.
PRAYER: Oh God, to be hungry for more of you is no problem, it is the way you designed me. To be humble before you is no problem either, it is a natural response to a very, very, very big triune God.
