Day 12, Wednesday, November 27
Read:Psalm 63
Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice. (v. 7)
Music has been a big part of my life and relationship with God. It is the vehicle he used so many years ago to draw me out of darkness and into light. It became the place he made for me in ministry as I began to face and heal from the damage of my childhood and young adulthood. To this day, there is nowhere I rejoice more than sitting at the piano and singing through the songs written on the journey beneath God’s wings.
Like most “little” things, music is really not a small deal at all, but it comes to us in small ways. It’s something we can take for granted, something we can pass casually by without paying much attention. It’s something the world, the flesh, and the devil know how to deceive and manipulate us with – I’ve seen its power in my own life to bring me closer to God, and vice versa.
As a tool in the Savior’s hands, it can open up the heart, softening edges, lowering barriers, lifting countenances, and readying us for the engrafted word, which is able to save our souls as James puts it (James 1:21).
Once you and I make the decision to come under God’s wings, to learn his story and acknowledge his saving deeds in our lives, we’ve entered a path where joy can be found. From that place of protection, we can rejoice, however we do it best!
As you pray, thank God for taking you under his wings where you can rejoice.
