The Whole Enchilada

SCRIPTURE Ezekiel 3:2-3 MSG As I opened my mouth, he gave me the scroll to eat, saying, “Son of man, eat this book that I am giving you. Make a full meal of it!” So I ate it. It tasted so good—just like honey.

THOUGHT How much of the whole word of God can you hold in tension in your own heart and mind? As a finite creature with a finite mind, probably not as much as you think, although Paul tells leaders of the early church in Acts 20:27, “For I never shrank or kept back or fell short from declaring to you the whole purpose and plan and counsel of God.” (AMPC)

Of course, Paul probably had much of the Old Testament memorized, and he wrote most of the New Testament — so he makes my point for me. It’s important to continue to take in more of the word of God. To process it anew. To remember what you’ve previously learned. To drill more deeply into what you don’t yet understand. To “do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15 NIV).”

Ay-yi-yi there’s a whole lot of truth to understand about the whole enchilada. Keep eating!

PRAYER Lord, you’ve said through your prophets and priests that every word from your mouth is true and right. Give me supernatural digestion to make room for more!
