SCRIPTURE: Psalm 91:14-16NLT The Lord says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.”
THOUGHT: I travel often and have to say I witness a lot of language thievery going on around our country. I’d like to reclaim the word “provision,” if I could. If marijuana is provision, medical or not, we are setting a low bar. Our local dispensaries (another re-definition) offer “provisions as pure as Michigan,” and I think they can probably live into that promise, since purity here can be problematic.
The provisions of God, so beautifully described in Psalm 91, are larger than relief, altered reality, or the tamping down of anxiety. They fulfill the relentless journey of the heart to find security, confidence, a companion on the journey who will never leave, help in trouble, long life, and even honor.
Provisions, God-style.
PRAYER: Oh Lord, you wrote the book on provisions. Rather than just blowing smoke, you keep your promises to us for security, confidence, faithful companionship, help in trouble, long life, and even honor. Thank you!
