Upside Down Kingdom

SCRIPTURE: 2 Cor. 6:10 NLT Our hearts ache, but we always have joy. We are poor, but we give spiritual riches to others. We own nothing, and yet we have everything.

THOUGHT: There are dichotomies in the life of a Christ-follower no doubt. It’s like there are two different tracks of thought running through my head most of the time. I begin to think of my sorrows and immediately follows a thought about all the blessings that are also mine. I contemplate my dreams for my vocation and how my accomplishments seem so small – and then follows the thought that what God is doing really isn’t about what I can do, it’s about what he can do through me and others who love him.

Jesus taught, “blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matt. 5:3 NIV).” It’s all upside down if you’re running down the wrong track.

PRAYER: Lord, your kingdom keep on coming on earth as it is in heaven. Even though my thoughts toggle between the two, keep me always aware of the joy, the riches, the everything that is mine in you.
