SCRIPTURE: Ecclesiastes 9:10 ESV Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.
THOUGHT: Yesterday we looked at working willingly, remembering we ultimately do our work for the Lord; today we find another layer, a seize-the-day mentality that adds gusto to willingness.
In Ecclesiastes 9, Solomon the Wise says that the enjoyment of our labor and family, good food and drink is our reward on this side of the grave, and that God approves this enjoyment. Eugene Peterson’s Message puts it like this: Each day is God’s gift. It’s all you get in exchange for the hard work of staying alive. Make the most of each one! Whatever turns up, grab it and do it. And heartily! (vv. 9-10 MSG)
How might your day today look different if you worked both willingly and heartily?

PRAYER: Oh Lord, I would follow the steps of Jesus, one who lived and loved with purpose and a full heart. Willingly and heartily, fully alive then and now.
