It’s Friday, but Sunday’s Comin’

SCRIPTURE: So when Pilate saw that he was gaining nothing, but rather that a riot was beginning, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, “I am innocent of this man’s blood; see to it yourselves.” And all the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” Matthew 27:24-25 ESV

THOUGHT: This is how both God and mankind’s darkest hour becomes the light of the world; how Friday becomes Sunday; how a grave becomes a garden; how sin becomes salvation; how grief becomes glory: “His blood be on us and on our children!” And so it is.

PRAYER: Oh God, it will never cease to amaze me that your son chose willingly to lay down his life in order that his blood might be on us and our children, a once-for-all sacrifice that tore earth and curtain and death. And thank you that, for every Friday in our lives, there’s a Sunday coming.
